MYTH: “If an oil has an expiration date on the bottle, it means it must contain synthetics!”
Have you ever seen a post with this myth floating around on Facebook? This couldn’t be further from the truth. You’ll find that many doTERRA oils have expiration dates stamped on the bottle of their bottles. However, this is *NOT* because they contain synthetics, but rather to simply fulfill a regulatory requirement.
Here’s the scoop straight from doTERRA.com: “Any essential oil marked for internal use must also be marked with an expiration date to fulfill regulatory requirements. However, the very nature and structure of essential oils makes them extremely stable. Shelf life testing performed on essential oils has shown that essential oils maintain their efficacy even after 5–10 years or more.”
